Salt Wind over the Algarve Cliffs

July 2, 2024Lagos, Portugal

Cliffs before breakfast

Dawn along the Ponta da Piedade trail arrived with sharp salt wind. Nina Kovács pointed out how the limestone columns catch the first light spilling from Lagos harbor. We traced the same ridge captured in our "Algarve Cliffs" print, pausing at the arch where cormorants nest between tides.

Notes from the tide pools

At low tide the Atlantic pulls back to reveal shelves of quartz. Fishermen coiled green ropes while surfers studied the swells far below. The print freezes the instant a wave sheared into mist against the overhang, a ribbon of turquoise against honeyed stone.

Why we printed it

Collectors often ask for pieces that smell like ocean spray. This story gave us that texture—the warm sandstone, the teal undertow, and the breeze that never eased up. Hang it near a window and you can almost hear Lagos waking up.
